Mongolia, China to boost environmental protection

Upwards of 120 delegates of Chinese and Mongolian media organizations attended the 13th China-Mongolia media forum, which was held via a video conference on Friday, China Daily reported.

Huang Runqiu, China’s Minister of Ecology and Environment, noted that throughout the years, China has actively participated in global environmental governance, strongly supported green and low-carbon growth, and continued to enhance the ecological environment’s quality.

China has had a 34.4 percent decline in carbon dioxide emissions per unit of GDP during the previous ten years, while coal usage as a percentage of overall energy consumption has decreased from 68.5 to 56.0 percent. The production and sales of new energy vehicles have led the globe for seven years running, and the installed capacity of wind, light, water and biomass power generation are among the best in the world.

In addition to taking on significant responsibilities like protecting the public’s interests, monitoring social hotspots, providing comprehensive and reasoned expression, and fostering social advancement, the media of the two countries should make the most of their individual advantages to inspire and nurture public awareness of environmental protection.

Two online agreements for media collaboration between Chinese and Mongolian outlets were inked at the summit. Since its inception in 2010, the forum has developed into a significant venue for the media of the two countries to foster communication and collaboration.
