In order to protect and help people fleeing the war in Ukraine, UNHCR in the Czech Republic maintains positive collaboration with state institutions including local and municipal authorities, UN agencies, NGOs, humanitarian partners, civil society organizations, and other important players. To ensure that refugees and asylum seekers have access to fundamental rights and services, UNHCR closely coordinates its efforts with Czech government agencies, including the Ministries of Education, Labour, and Social Affairs, as well as Interior and Fire Rescue Service.
In accordance with the Refugee Coordination Model (RCM), in close coordination and consultation with the relevant government counterparts, with the support of inter-agency partners, and other stakeholders, UNHCR leads and coordinates the implementation of the Refugee Response Plan (RRP) as part of the response to the Ukraine situation. In order to guarantee a coordinated response across existing government structures, interagency partners, NGOs, volunteers, and other stakeholders, UNHCR also serves as the country’s chair of the Refugee Coordination Forum (RCF).
In order to ensure that everyone seeking protection, including those with special needs, has access to comprehensive assistance and services, UNHCR is increasing its collaboration arrangements with NGOs. La Strada, AMIGA, Slovo21, Romodorm, NGO Consortium, and Organization for Aid to Refugees are presently partners with UNHCR (OPU).
