Rashid Meredov, the foreign minister of Turkmenistan, met with a group from the United States on November 7 under the leadership of Donald Lu, the assistant secretary of state for the bureau of south and central Asian affairs at the US Department of State, AKIpress reports.
The partnership between Turkmenistan and the United States was discussed, along with global and local issues including the conflict in Afghanistan.
The diplomats focused on the efficacy of the political dialogues between Turkmenistan and the United States as well as the collaboration in the “Central Asia-USA” (C5+1) structure.
It was verified that both sides were committed to fostering the growth of their trade and economic connections. The significance of stepping up the activity of the Turkmen-American Business Council was also mentioned by the parties.
A focus was placed on collaborative efforts in the fields of research, education, health, and culture.
Environmental concerns, such as the mitigation of methane emissions and concerns about climate change, also received attention.
The parties took notice of the possibilities for future bilateral collaboration in the fields of medicine and healthcare.
An agreement on collaboration in healthcare and medical sciences was reached by the governments of Turkmenistan and the US.
