EU top diplomat Josep Borell to meet Central Asian ministers

On November 16–17, Kazakhstan will host a visit by Josep Borrell, the EU’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission, Inform.kz reported.

Josep Borrell will have meetings with Kazakhstan’s leadership, including Mukhtar Tileuberdi, the deputy prime minister and foreign minister, as part of his tour.

The parties are anticipated to discuss current regional and global concerns as well as the potential for bilateral collaboration between Kazakhstan and the EU.

The EU’s top diplomat will also have meetings with his colleagues from Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.

In the next conference with foreign ministers from the area, the European Union should demand openness and accountability in light of the numerous deadly crackdowns on rallies in Central Asia during 2022, Human Rights Watch reported.
