In the third quarter of 2022, Basic Needs sector partners in Türkiye collectively supported approximately 2 million people through various sectoral initiatives, a ReliefWeb cites a UNHCR report.
In accordance with the nationwide Emergency Social Safety Net (ESSN) and Complementary-ESSN (C-ESSN) programs, about 2 million people received monthly cash assistance.
Additionally, the overall number of recipients of one-time financial support nearly doubled from the first half of the year to 90,655, indicating great advancement but still falling short of the annual targets as examined in the sectoral 2022 Mid-Year Review Note.
By more than doubling from its level in the second quarter, the number of beneficiaries of access to suitable shelter solutions increased to 33,031 in the third quarter of 2022.
According to this growth, 90% progress was made toward the corresponding target for 2022, which is significantly higher than the rate of progress during the same period in 2021 (37%), despite the higher target for 2022 reflecting the growing difficulties Türkiye faces in gaining access to adequate housing.
The number of people receiving food aid climbed by almost 26% from the previous quarter to 74,234, which represents a 48% improvement above the yearly goal.
The slower progress in 2022 compared to that seen during the same period last year (73%) may be largely attributable to the larger objective for 2022, which reflects the growing need for food aid based on the nation’s fast rising food prices.
In comparison to the second quarter, the total number of beneficiaries receiving non-food items (NFIs), such as gender-appropriate sanitary, hygiene, and other products, as well as core relief items (CRIs), grew by only 4% to 188,807.
