Russia’s Agriculture Ministry Ready to Reallocate Food Supplies If Needed

The Russian Ministry of Agriculture will be able to reallocate food supplies to different regions of the country in case of necessity, Deputy Prime Minister Victoria Abramchenko said on Wednesday, according to Dairy News.

“The Deputy Prime Minister particularly noted that food stocks were formed in the country and there is no shortage in any group,” the press service of the official says.

“The Deputy Prime Minister also noted that the Russian Ministry of Agriculture will be able to reallocate food supplies if required, considering the regionalization,” it reports.

Abramchenko ordered to ensure continuous delivery of foods for the population and prepare food stocks in retail chains, the press service added.

Business representatives at the meeting noted that the allegedly empty shelves, reports of which appeared on social networks in the last few days, were caused by problems with the quick display of goods on the trading floor and not by a drop in production volumes.

Meanwhile, by order of the Ministry of Agriculture, a stock of food products has been created in the distribution centers of Tatarstan, which will be enough for at least two months, local media reported.

The stock of products created in the republic “is constantly being replenished in accordance with the needs of customers,” the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Production of the Republic of Tatarstan noted.
