Rospotrebnadzor: Looser COVID-19 Restrictions to Start by Allowing Walks and Jogging

The loosening of restrictions imposed on citizens due to the threat of the coronavirus COVID-19 will begin with the permission to engage in outdoor sports and walk in small groups, said Anna Popova, head of Rospotrebnadzor.

“Looser restrictions will begin with short walks of two or three people, with morning runs that will be allowed, physical education and sports on the street, walking with children, but, of course, a limited number of people with respect to social distance,” Popova said, as reported by Kommersant.

She also named criteria that could allow beginning to lift restrictions, such as: a decrease in the growth rate of those infected; availability of free beds for the treatment of patients with coronaviurs; and increasing the number of tests conducted on COVID-19.

Earlier, the head of Rospotrebnadzor said that over the period of restrictions, the growth rate of the incidence rate has significantly decreased.

According to Popova, the decision to extend the restrictions was made due to the fact that the virus lives on the surface for a long time and is quickly transmitted from person to person. But if the Russians observe quarantine, then they will have the opportunity to return to normal life, albeit “with certain characteristics.”
