Putin Signs Law to Support Families With Children

Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law on measures to support families with children and single women registered in early pregnancy, Russian media report.

According to the new law, which will enter into force on July 1, incomplete families with children from 8 to 17 years old will be assigned monthly payments in the amount of half of the child’s subsistence minimum in the region, which is 5.6 thousand rubles on average throughout the country.

Also, from July 1, women registered with a medical organization in the period up to 12 weeks of pregnancy will be paid 50% of their actual wage.

The law stipulates that from September 1 of this year, sick leave for the care of children under the age of 8 will be paid at the rate of 100% of the average earnings.

Inna Svyatenko, the chairman of the Federation Council Committee on social policy, said that in order for beneficiaries to receive these payments and benefits on time and in full, an application must be submitted on the state services portal.
