The Fortuna vessel continued laying the Nord Stream 2 pipes in Germany’s exclusive economic zone. According to the operator Nord Stream 2 AG, the Federal Office for Shipping and Hydrography issued a permit for laying the gas pipeline on the 2-kilometer section on January 14, Russian media reported.
On May 17, the department demanded the immediate execution of the permit. Fortuna is a vessel with an anchor positioning system, suitable for pipeline construction works.
Previously, Washington imposed sanctions against 13 Russian vessels taking part in the construction of Nord Stream 2. Some of the companies under these sanctions are “Marine Rescue Service”, “Mortransservice”, and “Samara Heat and Power Property Fund”.
