The newest Rule of Law Index 2022, released on October 26 by the American NGO World Justice Project, places Kazakhstan 65th out of 140 nations across the globe. Kazakstan was ranked 66th the year before, The Astana Times reports.

The World Justice Project has been tracking the expansion of the rule of law globally since 2009. The eight elements on which the researchers based their conclusions were: limitations on governmental authority, absence of corruption, open government, basic rights, law and order, enforcement of regulations, and civil and criminal justice.

Behind Georgia, Kosovo, and North Macedonia, Kazakhstan is the fourth-placed nation in Eastern Europe and Central Asia.

Danish, Norwegian, Finnish, Swedish, Dutch, German, New Zealand, Luxembourg, Estonia, and Ireland are in the top 10.

Last place goes to Venezuela.
