President Xi Jinping reiterated China’s resolve to use the China-Eurasia Expo as a catapult to expand cooperating areas in Eurasia, intensify collaboration, and advance shared progress and prosperity, China Daily reports.
In a letter of congratulations for the 7th China-Eurasia Expo, which kicked off in Urumqi, the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous province, President Xi emphasized Eurasia as a region full of energy and economic potential as well as a crucial hub for international collaboration in jointly constructing the Belt and Road.
According to the president, Xinjiang has aggressively built itself into a key region of the Silk Road Economic Belt over the last few years by fully utilizing its geographic advantages and promoting connectivity, win-win cooperation, and shared growth between China and Eurasian nations.
President Xi stated that China is willing to collaborate with other nations to use the expo as a platform to continue “the Silk Road spirit of peace and cooperation,” transparency and inclusivity, exchange of knowledge, and common goals, and to maintain a route of high standards, sustainability, and public well-being in pursuit of shared development and prosperity.
High government officials, as well as other heads of state from other Eurasian countries, visited the launch via video connection, and the expo’s theme is “exclusive consultation, joint contribution, shared benefits, and cooperation for a shared future.”
Experts and corporate executives have also voiced their optimism about the expanding economic and commercial cooperation spanning Eurasia, which is supported by the collaborative building of the Belt and Road and the thriving growth of international trade and investment platforms like the exhibition.
“Closer economic and investment cooperation in sectors such as energy, infrastructure, and industrial upgrades in Eurasia is expected to help stabilize the global energy supply and market expectations, and to push for improvements in connectivity among regions involved in the Belt and Road,” said Zhou Mi, a senior researcher at the Chinese Academy of International Trade and Economic Cooperation, as quoted by China Daily.
