BitMilano 2020: Countdown to the Opening of the 40th Edition

The countdown is on for BitMilano 2020, the only Italian trade fair to propose the multi-target b2b and b2c formula, on 9 February when it will open to travelers; on 10 and 11 February entry will be reserved for professionals of the industry only.

The multi-target format embraced by the trade fair is proving to be highly strategic. Bit is the only event in the tourist world to adopt it, not least because it is highly appreciated by visitors.

In this way, the consumer public will have the chance to discover the latest trends and proposals, from Italy to destinations on the other side of the world. For the trade world, it will be an opportunity to expand business opportunities: thanks to all the work carried out over the last few months, Bit is receiving confirmation of participation from selected buyers from all over the world.

The selection of exhibitors is promising, one institution set to return for the 2020 edition is the Piedmont Region and larger areas will be dedicated tothe Italian regions of Lazio, Liguria, Marche, Sardinia, Sicily and Veneto. The Lombardy Region has confirmed its participation, which is essential given the strong ties the city of Milan has with Lombardy as well as other Italian regions: Abruzzo, Basilicata, Calabria, Campania, Emilia Romagna, Puglia, Tuscany and Umbria.

At an international level, the presence of North African countries has been confirmed, including Algeria and Egypt, which returns to Bit after being absent from the last few editions, along with Morocco and Tunisia.

All the most popular long-distance destinations will be there too, including Indonesia, the Indian state of Kerala, the Maldives, Malaysia, the Seychelles and Thailand, as well as Caribbean destinations like Cuba and the Dominican Republic.

South America will be amply represented, with Chile, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Peru and Uruguay.

There will also be a host of European and Mediterranean regions and countries such as Andalusia, the Canary Islands, Cyprus, Croatia, Israel, Moldavia, Poland and Ukraine.

A number of private operators will be there too, including BWH Hotel Group Italia – Best Western, Blu Hotels, La Compagnia del Relax, Gruppo Una, Hertz, Madagascar Destination, NH Hotel Group, QC Terme, I Viaggi di Maurizio Levi and many more.

Bit2020 proposes themed areas like Bit4Job, dedicated to recruitment for the tourism industry, BeTech, focused on digital and other technologies as well as start-ups in the industry, and I love Wedding, showcasing services for future spouses and planners.

MICE Village, has also been confirmed, the area entirely dedicated to the Meeting industry, unique to BitMilano, the only national exhibition to host it. Numerous events have been scheduled across all areas – including conferences, seminars and workshops , offering a detailed look at trends in the industry. There will be countless opportunities for networking among professionals from the industry and beyond.

Lastly, almost 100 conventions have been scheduled, with focus on four themed areas: Training, Technology, Hot Topics, Food and Wine Tourism – to create an even better use path.

The new Report on Food and Wine Tourism (curated by Prof. Garibaldi) is sure to garner interest, as will the 23rdItalian Tourism Report, sponsored by IRISS (the Research Institute for Innovation and Services for Development) of CNR (the Italian National Research Council), a document which serves both as a reference and a guideline for strategic choices and policies in tourism.

A few of the “Hot Topics” up for discussion include: “Digital payments, virtual currencies, tourism. A dangerous triangle or a virtuous relationship?”, “When tourism is… geeky!”, “Corporate: managing new tribes of travelers”, “Experiential, eco-friendly and customised, the final frontier of the new traveler”, “Corporate social responsibility, the challenge for tourism”, “Brand reputation, the review platform makes the difference” and “Traveler-centricity, the traveler’s experience as a lever for marketing”.
