Three persons aboard the prototype Ilyushin Il-112V military transport plane crashed during a test flight in the Moscow region on Tuesday, according to its builder, United Aircraft Corporation, Reuters reports.
According to the company’s press release, it was uncertain if there were any fatalities in the incident. However, an unnamed source told RIA news agency that the personnel were thought to have died.
The plane was seen going at low altitude with one of its wings on fire prior to making a quick turn and plunging to the earth, according to a video of the incident posted online.
The Il-112V is being developed and tested by United Aircraft Corporation as a successor for the Antonov An-26.
