CSE intervened in new measures to ensure Moldova’s energy security

In December, Moldavskaia GRES and customers on the left bank of the Dniester would receive 166.5 million cubic meters of natural gas from Moldovagaz for the purpose of generating electricity. The Commission for Exceptional Situations meeting, presided by Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița, authorized the proposal, Radio Chișinău reported.

The government says action is required because Gazprom has decreased the amount of natural gas provided to the nation by around 56.5%, and it is vital to provide all users in the Republic of Moldova with energy security.

Other actions that are required to guarantee energy security seek to give Termoelectrica the funds up front that will be used to pay thermal energy compensations for the months of December 2022 and February 2023. In this sense, around 4 million euros will be needed, based on Termoelectrica’s projections. From the Energy Vulnerability Reduction Fund, the money will be transferred by the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection.

Members of the CSE intervened and proposed certain changes to the payment schedule for residences without a central heating system. Accordingly, as of December 2022, the owners of such properties will get compensation commensurate with their extremely high risk.

CSE members also interfered with various steps to enable refugee nationals from Ukraine’s entrance to the Republic of Moldova’s territory, both by land and by air. At the same time, numerous earlier exemptions were removed, indicating that the deadline had passed.

As a result, beginning in January, regular conditions for transit from and to Ukraine will be restored, and the road tax will be paid by all owners of cars not registered in the Republic of Moldova.
