Belarus to Receive 1.13mn Tons of Russian Oil in May

Belarus will receive 1.13 million tons of oil from Russia in May, while cooperation with alternative oil suppliers continues, the press secretary of state oil concern Belneftekhim said on Wednesday, according to

“Deliveries from Russia are confirmed in the amount of 1.13 million tonnes for May. Cooperation with alternative sources will continue. Decisions on volumes will be made taking into consideration both the domestic and the foreign markets,” Aleksandr Tishchenko said.

Belarusian oil refineries received around 2 million tons of oil for processing in April, including 1.56 million tonnes of oil from Russia, the press secretary added.

Belarus, which had a dispute with Russia over oil prices earlier this year, started receiving oil from major Russian companies in April.

As much as 1.56 million tonnes was delivered from Russia by pipeline and by rail. The rest was delivered by tankers and extracted in Belarus.

Apart from that, in April a batch of Azerbaijani oil was delivered to Belarus’s Mozyr Oil Refinery via the Odessa port. Oil firm Naftan received a batch of Norwegian oil with trans-shipment in the Klaipeda port. Both tankers delivered 85,000 tons each.
