Azerbaijan, Hungary to boost energy cooperation

Parviz Shahbazov, the energy minister for Azerbaijan, met with Tamas Torma, the ambassador of Hungary to Azerbaijan, as reported by Azertac. The importance of energy cooperation in the relations between Azerbaijan and Hungary was stressed during the conference.

The Southern Gas Corridor’s potential for collaboration was considered.

The minister provided information on the country’s welcoming climate for green energy investments as well as the efforts being made to carry out significant projects that would draw in international capital.

The two officials discussed Azerbaijan’s plans to export a portion of electricity produced in the country at the cost of alternative energy, particularly sizable capacity to be built on offshore wind energy, to Europe.

Ambassador Torma highlighted the desire of his nation for active energy collaboration in the fields of conventional and renewable energy as well as the involvement of Hungarian businesses in the rehabilitation of areas freed from occupancy and conversion into green energy zone.

The parties discussed many additional concerns that arose from their collaboration in the energy industry.
