Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the president of Ukraine, declared early on Wednesday that following Russian troops’ attacks on Tuesday, the power supply had largely been restored, Anadolu Agency reported.
Zelenskyy also wished his compatriots a nice day “without rocket attacks” in a morning greeting posted on his Telegram account.
Ukrenergo, the official energy provider of Ukraine, declared in a statement that workers had started turning on electricity for customers and were mending damaged power plants and networks.
Ukrenergo described the Tuesday attacks as the worst energy sector assault in the country’s history and promised to work “round-the-clock” to keep the electricity flowing to homes.
Ukrenergo also mentioned in the statement that the anticipated cold weather would make the following days challenging and cause a rise in the demand for power supply.
This will result in an increase in network load. In light of this, the statement urged people to be aware of the shutdowns that will be conducted as needed and to continue using power responsibly.
Meanwhile, on Tuesday, a civilian was killed when three residential buildings in Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, were struck as countrywide air alarms sounded.
Along with Kovel, Rivne, Lviv, and Vinnytsia, officials reportedly reported explosions in a number of other places.
According to the most recent UN figures, the war that Russia is waging against Ukraine has already lasted nine months and claimed the lives of 6,557 people while injuring 10,074 more.
