UNDP hosts seminar on energy efficiency for residential buildings in Turkmenistan

The UNDP promotes sustainable development concepts, such as "energy efficiency, environmental monitoring, waste management, and the promotion of sustainable transportation"

The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) sponsored a conference in Ashgabat on the topic of residential construction energy efficiency. According to the UNDP press office, it was attended by state agency leaders, professors from postsecondary institutions, and hotel industry experts from the National Tourist Zone Avaza, Turkmen Portal reported.

Some of the major topics of the seminar’s discussion included green building, worldwide experience with energy efficiency and green standards, developing and implementing energy-saving methods, and sustainable growth of Turkmenistan’s construction industry. The subjects that were covered are crucial for lowering energy use and, consequently, greenhouse gas emissions as part of efforts to protect the environment for future generations.

The UNDP promotes sustainable development concepts, such as “energy efficiency, environmental monitoring, waste management, and the promotion of sustainable transportation”, within the scope of the initiative on the building of environmentally friendly cities. The initiative also intends to assist in the creation of a national green standard for Turkmenistan’s hospitality sector.

Additionally, training was organized as part of the green initiative “Sustainable Cities in Turkmenistan: Integrated Green Urban Development in Ashgabat and Avaza” between UNDP and the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan.
