The “transit” module of the customs information system ASYCUDA World has been connected by Turkmenistan’s State Customs Service with the TIR-EPD information system created by the International Road Transport Union (IRU), Azernews reported citing Trend and Orient News.

Getting early electronic information about the items being transported by foreign freight carriers is said to speed up trade turnover and boost the country’s potential for transit and transport.

This method will help build effective pricing monitoring and a more quick and visual digital depiction of the delivered items.

The “Convention on International Transport of Goods Under Cover of TIR Carnets by the International Transport Union (IRU)” is the framework within which the system is currently being implemented.

The TIR-EPD system transmits electronic preliminary data on commodities being transported by road for import into the customs territory, including transit, to the customs authorities.
