Türkiye and Bulgaria sign deal for natural gas transport

Bulgaria and Türkiye inked a contract on Tuesday for the transport of up to 1.5 billion cubic meters of natural gas annually, Anadolu Agency reported.

According to Fatih Donmez, the Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, who is in Sofia to see his Bulgarian colleague Rossen Hristov, the new agreement for natural gas transport is for a 13-year term.

Donmez continued by saying that, along with Bulgaria, such collaboration would significantly improve the security of Europe’s natural gas supply.

The general managers of Turkish Petroleum Pipeline Company (BOTAS) and Bulgargaz signed the gas agreement between the two nations.

An energy ministers’ meeting and nation leaders’ summit took place in Istanbul one month prior to the agreement.

“We are pleased that the topics discussed in Istanbul have turned into concrete steps in Sofia today, less than a month after our last meeting,” Donmez said.
