Turkey prepared to supply gas to Southeast Europe

Turkish Energy and Natural Resources Minister Fatih Donmez said many Southeast European nations have spoken with Turkey about supplying their gas needs, Anadolu Agency reported.

The energy minister stated that Turkey plays a significant role in transferring energy resources in its surrounding region to developing nations during the 4th Turkish-German Energy Forum in Berlin.

According to Donmez, Turkey is prepared to use all reasonable efforts to provide the nation and its markets with natural resources from the Caspian area, particularly Turkmenistan’s natural gas, the Eastern Mediterranean region, particularly Israel’s natural gas, and Iraq on a long-term basis.

Donmez emphasized that Europe has issues with the security of its energy supply, and the costs it must bear, as a result, are clear.

To secure the security of its energy supply and to provide energy at more affordable costs, Turkey made considerable efforts to diversify its energy import channels.

“We increased the capacity and number of our LNG terminals. Also, we increased our natural gas storage capacity and we continue to increase it. We will commission the third FSRU in 2023,” Donmez explained.

Turkey and Germany signed a letter of intent to collaborate on the development of green hydrogen, he noted.
