Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan strike deal for 2bln kWh of electricity

Kyrgyzstan made an agreement with its neighbor Tajikistan for the supply of electricity which will amount to 2 billion kWh, local news outlets reported.

According to digital media source Tazabek, acting Kyrgyzstan Minister of Energy Talaibek Ibrayev announced during the session of the Kyrgyz parliament, that the Kyrgyz delegation would travel to Turkmenistan on October 12–14 to ink the deal on the supply of electricity.

Last year Turkmenistan supplied Kyrgyzstan with 501.9 million kWh of electricity in the period between August and December.

“In addition, next year we will import 600 million kWh from brotherly Kazakhstan,” Ibrayev added.

The electricity from Turkmenistan will be imported into the nation via Uzbekistan. Talaibek Ibrayev said that an agreement had been negotiated with Uzbekistan for the delivery of 2 billion kWh of Turkmen power.
