Kyrgyzstan asks World Bank to support railroad, hydropower projects

Adylbek Kasymaliev announced that Kyrgyzstan welcomes the World Bank in taking part and supporting the railway and hydropower projects.

At the Bishkek Economic Forum on Wednesday, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Adylbek Kasymaliev announced that Kyrgyzstan welcomes the World Bank in taking part and supporting the construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway and the Kambar-Ata-1 hydroelectric facility.

There are still many projects for Kyrgyzstan to complete, Kasymaliev noted, but the development of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway and the Kambar-Ata-1 hydropower plant are two important ones right now.

According to Kasymaliev, the initial project will serve as a powerful catalyst and provide chances for the execution of several initiatives. The building of the Kambar-Ata-1 hydroelectric plant will serve as a model for integration in a Kyrgyz-Kazakh-Uzbek project. Its capabilities will enable the beginning of a number of projects in the area.

“Kyrgyzstan invites the World Bank to participate in the implementation of these projects,” Kasymaliev noted, as quoted by AKIpress News Agency.

“We hope for the support of the World Bank in the development of the Batken region, which was affected by the aggression of the neighboring state. Of course, an important document of this visit is Country Partnership Framework between Kyrgyzstan and the World Bank,” he said.
