According to a statement made by Kazakh Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov during a visit to the Turkistan Region on October 19, Kazakhstan would utilize the money taken from corrupt officials to build new schools around the country, The Astana Times reported.
Nearly 100 billion tenge (US$212.3 million) in confiscated cash, according to Smailov, will be used to build schools in November as the Anti-Corruption Agency puts mechanisms in place to fight corruption and return assets that were taken illegally.
Participants in the gathering talked about the area’s social and economic growth. Darkhan Satybaldy, the Akim (governor) of the Turkistan Region, spoke about the region’s current state, economic development, and the implementation of investment projects.
According to Smailov, this year the region received approximately 367 billion tenge (US$779.4 million) for development, and an extra 100 billion tenge (US$212.3 million) was allocated as part of the country’s budget realignment.
Smailov argued that the money will be utilized to develop engineering infrastructure, address social problems, and boost the agro-industrial complex in Kazakhstan. With just a few months left in the year, it is crucial to make sure that budget monies are utilized effectively and strategically in order to get the intended results.
He also paid attention to keeping the mausoleum of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi intact. Smailov emphasized that a substantial development project is presently under way, and that as a result, more people are visiting the site. Smailov gave the akimat (local government) explicit instructions to adhere to the UNESCO and other international organizations’ guidelines in this regard.
Smailov addressed the economy and said that in order to expedite regional development and raise citizen well-being, steps must be taken to establish new investment projects. 29 projects totaling 33 billion tenge (US$70 million) and 74 projects totaling 1.9 trillion tenge (US$4 billion) will be implemented in the region this year.
