FRV acquires majority stake in BESS, Greece

In Greece, a 600 Megawatts (MW) battery energy storage system (BESS) has announced the acquisition of a majority stake by Fotowatio Renewable Ventures, a top provider of sustainable energy solutions and a subsidiary of Abdul Latif Jameel Energy, Zawya reports.

Between Q4 2023 and Q2 2024, Wootis will complete the project, which will bring together FRV’s in-depth expertise in the BESS technology and Wootis’s vast experience in the Greek development environment.

One of the first Greek businesses to work in the field of renewable energy is Wootis SA. It offers comprehensive services to running renewable energy stations and specializes in asset management.

Wootis offers full commercial and technical management and aggregation services, as well as operation and maintenance services at wind and photovoltaic (PV) stations, with one of the biggest and most advanced monitoring centers in Europe operating since 2015.

Greece has shown a great dedication to attaining its goal of doubling the nation’s green energy capacity by 2030, according to Fady Jameel, Deputy President and Vice Chairman of Abdul Latif Jameel, and their company is eager to participate in this project.

According to Jameel, they are committed to promoting green energy and securing a more sustainable energy model for the entire world.

FRV has built more than 50 renewable energy production plants to date in nations like Spain, Australia, Mexico, Uruguay, Chile, Italy, India, the United States, the United Kingdom, Armenia, and Jordan, and is preparing for new projects that will soon be launched in other markets, according to Andrea Fontana, Managing Director of FRV Europe.

FRV and Wootis will work together on new initiatives in the nation in addition to this project.
