Azeri president, Saudi foreign minister hold bilateral meeting

Prince Faisal Bin Farhan, foreign minister of Saudi Arabia, was welcomed by President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan on Tuesday on his official visit to Baku, Saudi Gazette reports.

“Our relations are developing in the political and economic spheres. Of course, cultural relations between our brotherly countries are also developing successfully. We are very close to each other. Our citizens visit Saudi Arabia, your citizens come to Azerbaijan, and they see this clearly,” said president Aliyev.

In addition to wishing Azerbaijan, its government, and its nation ongoing success and wealth, Prince Faisal also extended congratulations from King Salman, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, and Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman to the president of Azerbaijan.

They discussed recent world developments as well as bilateral relations between the two nations during the discussion.

“Cooperation within international organizations is another important part of our relations. We are grateful for the support provided within the framework of the UN and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. We are successfully cooperating with each other in these institutions. I am sure that during your visit, within the framework of consultations with your colleagues, we will determine the directions we will move forward along in order to further strengthen our relations,” the president concluded.

Prince Faisal also had a meeting with his counterpart, Jeyhun Bayramov, the foreign minister of Azerbaijan.

The two ministers conducted a formal meeting where they examined various elements of the relationship between the Kingdom and Azerbaijan, discussed methods to advance and enhance it in many areas, and talked about matters of shared interest.

The Saudi diplomat and his delegation were guests at a luncheon that Bayramov hosted.
