Thanks to visa liberalization, geographic proximity, shared cultural heritage, accessibility, and favorable currency rates, Turkish nationals’ top choice for a travel destination remains the Balkans.
According to Muhammet Ali Köprü, the chief executive officer of a tour operator firm called Malitur, the Balkans are particularly alluring to Turkish travelers since they allow visa-free travel, are inexpensive and are nearby Turkey. He pointed out that despite being one of the pandemic’s most severely hit industries, demand has increased significantly as things have returned to normal.
In addition to highlighting the fact that tourists flock to the Balkans year-round, Köprü claimed that Turkish nationals choose vacations to a travel destination without visa requirements. As opposed to the traditional beach holiday, traveling to the Balkans is the best option for those interested in history and culture.
In addition, Köprü noted that many Ottoman artifacts might be found in places like Sarajevo, Skopje, Ohrid, and Pristina. The Balkans are a region that is “connected to our hearts.” Their shared cultural heritage and cuisine are particularly suited to the tastes of the Turks.
The Turkish Lira continues to hold its own against the currencies of the Balkan nations despite the euro’s increasing trend, according to Köprü
Due to their easing of visa requirements for Turkish people, Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia, Kosovo, and Albania stand out in terms of travel preferences.
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan recently declared that as a result of an agreement reached during his visit to Serbia, people of Serbia and Turkey may now travel to each other’s countries using their identity cards.
Bosnia and Turkey also made the decision to make it possible for their residents to travel between the two nations using only their IDs.
According to the president, Turkey has a close relationship with the Balkans because of its extensive historical, interpersonal, and cultural links to the area and its efforts to defuse tensions.
